Lenovo Opens Innovation Design Center in Hong Kong

Hong Kong, October 16, 2009 — Lenovo today announced the opening of its Innovation Design Center, Hong Kong, which will be involved in providing support to the Company’s Innovation Design Center, Beijing, for the design of Lenovo’s existing product portfolio, development of new product concepts for consumer computing, and research on design and consumer trends.

Mr. Yao Yingjia, General Manager of the Lenovo Innovation Design Center, and Vice President, Lenovo, said, “We are very happy to extend our innovative design network to Hong Kong, which represents a strategic move to take advantage of the city’s diversity and multicultural environment. Not only does Hong Kong have a sophisticated consumer group, it also has world-class design talents and is the ideal place for design innovation. The establishment of our Innovation Design Center in Hong Kong will help further advance Lenovo’s innovative design competitiveness.”

The closeness to local organizations will also help us immerse ourselves in their design culture, and strengthen our understanding of consumer preferences, including fast changing consumer markets.”

Based in Beijing, the Lenovo Innovation Design Center is a highly innovative and resourceful team that combines art, technology and cultural research to create new products. The team is affiliated with Lenovo’s Global Research & Technology (R&T) Center in Beijing and works closely with the Company’s other global R&D centers in Raleigh, North Carolina and Yamato, Japan, the team designs with people in mind, using sophisticated design skills and technologies to deliver results and demonstrate Lenovo’s commitment to innovation. Over the years, this multinational and multiregional team has designed a number of award-winning products, receiving accolades from US Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA), Germany Red Dot Best Award, Germany iF Design Award, Japan G-Mark International Industrial Design Award, and the Intel Innovation PC Award, among others. The acclaimed Olympic torch of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games was also the work of this experienced design team.
