Ready to get all artsy smartsy! We’re talking design and building a kinetic sculpture on this episode of #StemAtHome.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Sketch out what you want your kinetic sculpture to look like.
Mark your sticks at the length you want them to be.
Break your sticks at the predetermined lengths.
Use the pointy end of the stick to pre-drill the holes to attach the foam balls.
Paint your sticks and foam balls.
Cut a small piece of twine.
Attach the twine to the bottom level of your sculpture.
Make sure your string is balanced in the middle of the stick.
Once your stick is balanced, use a small dab of glue to hold the string in place.
Continue tying your sticks together with the twine.
Make sure that each stick is balanced as you add new ones.
Once the sticks are balanced, add a dab of glue to each knot.
Tie a loop at the top, so that you can hang your sculpture.

Congratulations on making your kinetic sculpture! We hope you enjoyed learning about design, something we think about when making every piece of technology. Be sure to share your kinetic sculpture with #StemAtHome.
