Powering More Sustainable AI at Scale: How Lenovo Supports IREN’s Next-Gen AI Cloud Services

As demand for AI infrastructure continues to rise, cloud providers are facing pressure to scale rapidly, without compromising performance or sustainability. IREN, a leading AI cloud service provider, is positioned to meet this demand. The company developed an infrastructure platform dedicated to power-dense compute and has expanded aggressively by scaling data centers for AI cloud services, deploying thousands of NVIDIA GPUs.

IREN sited its data center campuses in renewable-rich regions of North America, but with a unique approach. When seeking new facilities to build out its data centers, the company would often repurpose electrical infrastructure previously used for former industrial sites, such as lumber and paper mills. Leveraging abundant clean power, IREN was able to grow its operations with low-cost and low emissions at the forefront.

Scaling AI Infrastructure for Performance, Reliability and Growth

Sustaining IREN’s growth trajectory requires a constant supply of AI-ready infrastructure, and the company was keen to find capable hardware partners. IREN joined forces with Lenovo to procure cutting-edge hardware for its Canadian data center operations, beginning with facilities in Prince George, British Columbia.

Together, IREN and Lenovo configured and deployed 648 Lenovo ThinkSystem SR680a V3 nodes, forming clusters featuring NVIDIA® HGX™ B200 GPUs. The team is preparing to introduce NVIDIA® B300 servers at the same site, from an order of 440 Lenovo ThinkSystem SR680a V4 nodes with NVIDIA HGX™ B300 GPUs.

Beyond hardware delivery, IREN has also benefited from Lenovo’s on-site engineering and technical teams, which played a critical role in accelerating deployment and onboarding. As a result, Lenovo has helped keep IREN on the cutting edge of infrastructure development, combining renewable energy with HPC capabilities for new levels of performance and efficiency.

Lenovo ThinkSystem servers deliver extreme computational performance and acceleration, enabling IREN to efficiently power AI models that are growing in size and complexity.

Looking Ahead: The Next Wave of AI Innovation

This partnership continues to evolve. IREN and Lenovo are already exploring future data center expansion projects.

Together, Lenovo and IREN are demonstrating how scalable AI infrastructure and sustainable data center design can go hand in hand—delivering the performance enterprises need today while building a more energy-efficient future for AI. Lenovo’s combination of global supply strength, manufacturing capacity, and hands-on expertise enables support of fast-moving Cloud providers like IREN, as they scale AI services at speed.
