“Our ThinkVision monitors demonstrate that business performance and design for the environment can go hand in hand,” said Eric Yu, executive director and general manager, Visuals Business Unit, Lenovo. “Our latest trio offers strikingly crisp and clear images while maintaining extraordinary energy efficiency in a user-friendly design.”
Raising Standards in Sustainability
The UL Environment SPC Gold certification indicates a product has met the most stringent and prestigious of three levels of compliance in the industry-wide sustainability standard for laptops, IEEE 1680.1. UL Environment tested the Gold-rated ThinkVision monitors to several specifications for the reduction or elimination of environmentally-sensitive materials in product and packaging, energy conservation, end-of-life management and corporate environmental practices. For example, the ThinkVision LT1952p and LT2252p monitors use up to 85 percent post consumer recycled content and exceed Energy Star 5.0 requirements for low power consumption in standby and off modes. Additionally ThinkVision monitors are shipped in recyclable packaging that is also made from recycled materials.
To determine compliance with the IEEE 1680 sustainability standard, UL Environment assessed product documentation and records, physically examined product samples, independently tested the product for compliance to ENERGY STAR® requirements and conducted onsite audits of manufacturing facilities. Additional UL Environment Gold-rated products include the ThinkPad X1 and T420 laptops and ThinkVision L1951p, L2250p, LT1421 and L197w monitors.
We’re in a time of heightened interest in green products, however, some environmental claims in the market are over exaggerated,” said Stephen H Wenc, president, UL Environment. “Having an independent third party like UL Environment test and verify the accuracy of environmental claims goes a long way in boosting consumer confidence, and Lenovo has taken a leadership position by having the most products certified of any PC-maker.”
Additionally, the new ThinkVision LT1952p wide, LT2252p and LT2452p monitors meet other environmental certifications: They are TCO Edge 1.1 certified, meet the requirements for Energy Star 5.0 and are EPEAT Gold-rated.
