Lenovo Receives Prestigious Manufacturing Leadership Award

Customer Value Leadership Award recognizes Lenovo’s achievements and pivotal role in U.S. Computer Manufacturing

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. –  June 6, 2014:Lenovo, the largest PC company in the world, received top honors last night at the 2014 Manufacturing Leadership Summit (MLS) during their Tenth Annual Manufacturing Leadership Awards gala in Palm Beach, Florida. A cornerstone event of the Summit, the gala presentation honors companies and individuals that are shaping the future of global manufacturing.

Lenovo took the spotlight with a Manufacturing Leadership Award win in Customer Value Leadership category, recognizing Lenovo’s role in pioneering the return of U.S. computer manufacturing – most notably through its U.S. Manufacturing and Fulfillment Center in Whitsett, North Carolina.

This particular award applauds new products and services provided to customers that enhance customer experience and build a closer relationship with them.  The award recognition came nearly a year to the day from the official ribbon cutting of the Lenovo manufacturing site in Whitsett, North Carolina. The Whitsett manufacturing line helps maximize product delivery speed, enabling Lenovo to more efficiently and strategically address fast-moving customer requirements. The ability to customize and add valuable services to orders later in the purchase cycle is a significant benefit to U.S. customers.

Scott Gardner, vice president of Lenovo’s Americas Group Global Supply Chain, attended the gala and accepted the award on behalf of Lenovo.

“Lenovo is honored to be recognized for our leadership in bringing computer manufacturing back to the United States,” said Gardner. “It’s rewarding to watch our new U.S. manufacturing site in North Carolina, which opened over a year ago, provide great benefits to our customers in the North America region.  On behalf of Lenovo, I thank the Manufacturing Leadership Council for this honor.”

The three-day Summit, themed “The Next Industrial Revolution: What Will Your Company Look Like in 2030?” brought together thought leaders and cross-functional leadership teams from all sectors of manufacturing to explore transformative new technological innovations.
