Research Triangle Park, N.C., August 7, 2006 – Lenovo Group Ltd. today announced the appointment of Rory Read as senior vice president, Operations. He reports directly to William Amelio, CEO, and is responsible for the company’s management system and day-to-day operation of business processes.
Read, 44, comes to Lenovo after a 23-year career at IBM, where he was most recently managing partner for the Global Industrial Sector of Business Consulting Services, responsible for global sales and delivery execution.
Prior to that position, Read was executive of Global Business Transformation and Information Technology for IBM’s $45 billion Global Services business, where he helped the company as it helped transform organizations into Internet-focused businesses.
Read also served as vice president, e-business Transformation, IBM.com, where he was responsible for defining and implementing IBM.com e-business strategy and execution, and was also based in Tokyo, as general manager, Business Innovation Services, IBM Asia Pacific.
“Rory has a wealth of global operations experience that he brings to the senior leadership team,” said Amelio. “Rory will help us to sharpen our operations focus even further, and I look forward to working with him.”
Read holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems from Hartwick College, NY.
