Lenovo Internet Lounges Open in the Beijing Olympic Village

BEIJING, July 28 – Lenovo today officially celebrated the opening of the company’s six Internet lounges in the Olympic Villages, known as i.lounges. The i.lounges provide athletes and officials with 260 computers where they can surf the Internet, blog, conduct video chats and stay in touch with friends and family.

The i.lounges are open from 8 a.m. to midnight each day and are staffed with Lenovo engineers to provide assistance to athletes. In addition to the four facilities in the Beijing Olympic Village, Lenovo provides i.lounges in the Qingdao and Hong Kong Olympic Villages. Lenovo i.lounges will continue to operate during the Paralympic Games, Sept. 6-17, 2008.

The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games are expected to host a record number of athletes, and these are the first Olympic Games where athletes will be able to blog during the competition time period itself. Lenovo has provided IdeaPad notebook PCs to more than 100 athletes from more than 25 countries and 29 sports who have signed up to blog, and their blogs are being presented on the website www.lenovo.com/voicesofthegames. Lenovo is a Worldwide Partner of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Torch Relay, providing more than 30,000 pieces of computing equipment to manage the operations of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
