Lenovo Empowers Enterprise Manageability Platform with New ThinkCentre Desktop PCs

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC – September 18, 2007 – Expanding upon its industry-leading enterprise manageability and security platform, Lenovo today introduced its latest desktop PCs, the ThinkCentre M57 and M57p.

Tailored to the unique needs of large commercial customers, these new Lenovo PCs provide improved manageability with the latest Intel® vPro® processor technology in the ThinkCentre M57p desktop. The PCs also offer top performance with quad core Intel® Core™2 Quad processors in the ThinkCentre M57 desktop. When combined with Lenovo’s ThinkPad notebooks featuring Intel® Centrino Pro® processor technology with Intel Active Management Technology and Lenovo’s ThinkVantage Technologies, Lenovo offers its customers the most complete platform for notebook and desktop fleet manageability.

Lenovo also introduced today the industry’s first 22-inch widescreen WUXGA resolution monitor, the Lenovo ThinkVision L220x Wide monitor, providing the highest resolution of any monitor in this size screen. The rollout also marks the first monitor of this type to support full high definition 1080p video.

“Large corporate customers are telling us that manageability and security are essential factors when purchasing PCs for their organization,” said Dilip Bhatia, executive director, global desktop marketing, Lenovo. “The new ThinkCentre desktops provide users the latest technologies along with the solutions that IT managers need to manage and to secure a fleet of hundreds or thousands of PCs.”

Studies show that PCs with the latest Intel® vPro™ and Intel® Centrino Pro™ capabilities can help IT organizations reduce the number of deskside visits or service depot calls traditionally required to inventory, upgrade, repair, rebuild or reimage PCs by up to 80 or 90 percent(1).

The ThinkCentre M57p desktop helps reduce complexity in IT management in several ways:

The PCs offer top performance with a range of discrete graphics card choices, large hard drives and security features including I/O port disablement, a TPM1.2 security chip and support for Computrace® software.

Industry’s First 22-Inch Widescreen WUXGA Monitor The combination of the ThinkVision L220x Wide monitor’s 178 degree horizontal and vertical wide viewing technology along with 103 pixels-per-inch dot density creates more vivid blacks, allowing colors to stand out and creating an overall superior image when compared to today’s 22-inch wide SXGA alternatives. Additionally, its ability to tilt, swivel and automatically reset image orientation when rotating between landscape and portrait view provides flexibility for a variety of work environments. The monitor also comes with four powered USB 2.0 ports for connecting to peripheral devices.

Addressing the Environment – Cool, Quiet and Energy Efficiency Matter In workplace environments, PC acoustics are important, and incremental improvements can make an exponential difference in the computing experience. With an up to five decibel improvement over previous models, the small form factor desktop offers a quiet, non-distracting experience. Lenovo also reduced this desktop’s average running temperature by nine percent for greater reliability. The products are highly energy efficient with both the PCs and monitor complying with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star® 4.0 criteria.
