Despite the known risks of road transport, occupational road safety is still seen as the responsibility of the individual driver, not the organization that performs, contracts or purchases the transport. This is the key problem the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile is working to address through the Road Safety Index. Introduced in 2024, the Road Safety Index is a methodology to assess road safety performance from a corporate value chain perspective.
Lenovo is committing to assessing its own road safety with the index and the improvements it recommends. By engaging with logistics suppliers to stress road safety and implementing an in-vehicle monitoring system to monitor the conditions of drivers and the vehicle, they have already begun to implement increased safety in Lenovo’s road logistics. Lenovo is taking the initiative towards safer and more sustainable road logistics in its operations by aligning to the FIA’s Road Safety Index methodology. “At Lenovo, we recognize that road safety is a critical priority highlighted by the United Nations and the World Health Organization,” shared Golden Xing, Director of Global Logistics Operations for Lenovo. “With our global supply chain and workforce, we are committed to promoting safe and responsible transportation practices, ensuring the well-being of our employees, partners, and communities worldwide.”
