PURCHASE, N.Y., Aug. 11, 2005 — Lenovo (HKSE: 992)(ADR: LNVGY) announced today that it expects second quarter industry data to show that Lenovo’s PC shipments in China are approximately triple that of its nearest competitor and almost four times that of its next nearest competitor, demonstrating a strong performance in the company’s fastest-growing market.
In addition, Lenovo expects the second quarter industry data will show that despite starting from a significantly larger base, the company’s sequential growth rate is holding steady at approximately 28 percent, far outpacing the China PC industry’s overall growth rate which is expected to be less than half that number.
These growth numbers are significant in the fast-growing and highly competitive China PC market, where Lenovo has held the leading market share position for eight years running, and has a current market share of approximately 34 percent, according to industry estimates.
Lenovo estimates that second quarter industry data will show that the company’s year-to-year increase in PC shipments is triple that of its nearest competitor, and more than double that of its next nearest competitor. Lenovo’s quarter-to-quarter increase in PC shipments is expected to be more than five times that of its nearest competitor, and more than three times its next nearest competitor.
