ARMONK, New York, March 15, 2005 – IBM Corporation was named a recipient of Intel Corporation’s Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) award for outstanding performance in providing products and services deemed essential to Intel’s success. The company was awarded for its efforts in supplying Intel with notebooks, desktops, workstations and servers. IBM Corporation and 25 additional PQS award winners will be honored at a celebration in Burlingame, Calif., on March 15.
“Receiving Intel’s Preferred Quality Supplier award is an honor. This is IBM’s fourth consecutive annual recognition from Intel for ThinkPad notebooks, ThinkCentre desktops, ThinkVantage Technologies, eServer xSeries systems and IntelliStation workstations. Intel uses this award to recognize suppliers who meet Intel’s tough standards,” said Steve Ward, IBM senior vice president and general manager, Personal Systems Group.
“The impact IBM brings in delivering PC’s to Intel employees continues to be outstanding. IBM consistently meets demand, provides quality products, and works diligently with Intel to provide the tools and technology required for Intel employees to be productive. In particular, IBM’s Active Protection System is a great example of how we have improved our relationship to reduce rework and defects in incoming notebooks,” said Martin Menard, Director, Product Capability Group, Information Services and Technology Group.
The PQS awards are part of Intel’s Supplier Continuous Improvement (SCQI) process that encourages suppliers to strive for excellence and continuous improvement. To qualify for PQS status, suppliers must score 80 percent on a report card that assesses performance and ability to meet cost, quality, availability, delivery, technology and responsiveness goals. Suppliers must also manage and deliver on a challenging improvement plan and a quality systems assessment. Additional information about the SCQI program is available at supplier.intel.com/quality/ .
Intel will also recognize PQS award winners on March 15 with an advertisement in the U.S., Europe and Asian editions of The Wall Street Journal.
