At Emitech Group’s headquarters in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, France, technicians put components from cars, planes, and trains through rigorous testing, exposing them to vibrations, pressure, and electric shocks in soundproofed labs. From electric car batteries to aviation components, these high-stakes tests require precise data capture and analysis, supported by high-performance laptops.
Serving customers with demanding technical requirements across multiple industries, Emitech’s technicians rely on robust, reliable hardware. To ensure employees were equipped with the latest technology to meet these needs, it turned to Lenovo as a trusted partner for high-performance computing solutions.
Founded in 1989, Emitech Group has steadily grown in its native France, helping companies meet rigorous standards for certifications. Over the years, it has grown through a combination of strategic acquisitions and organic expansion and is now setting its sights on new markets in Central and Eastern Europe. To enable this continued growth, it was essential to acquire new devices in a cost-efficient manner without the need for significant up-front capital expenditure.
Julien Joly, Purchasing Director at Emitech Group, says: “High-performance devices are important because they allow our teams to work quickly and efficiently. We looked for a partner to help us reduce our costs and ensure our employees can easily access the digital tools they need to perform their work and chose Lenovo because of their ability to deliver reliable, high-quality hardware combined with flexible, cost-effective solutions that scale with our business needs.”
Testing times
Recording the results of vibratory, climatic and hydraulic testing, which can last from minutes to months, demands cutting-edge hardware. Emitech needed machines powerful enough to run the digital tools required for testing and certification, and portable enough to carry to the purpose-built labs where they work, while also offering long-lasting battery life fit for machines which are constantly being moved between the lab and the office where data is analyzed.
Previously, the organization had faced challenges with short battery life and technical support that was costly and difficult to access. When Emitech Group learned about the pay-monthly model of Lenovo TruScale Device as a Service, they recognized an opportunity to streamline both device management and costs. In addition to flexible procurement, Lenovo’s support for end-of-life device management was a key advantage – helping Emitech safely dispose of devices used in highly confidential testing environments, while maintaining data security and compliance.
Joly said, “What stood out most about Lenovo was how easy the team is to work with. Whenever we refresh our devices, we face the additional challenge of disposing of hundreds of laptops in a secure and sustainable way. When we learned about Lenovo TruScale Device as Service, we saw straight away that it had the potential to transform our approach to managing the entire device lifecycle – from deployment to end-of-life.”
Delivering results
The roll-out was rapid, with new Emitech Group employees equipped with E16 ThinkPads via TruScale Device-as-aService. The company also opted to deploy 500 ThinkPhones to all workers. Lenovo worked closely with the Emitech Group team to ensure the technology matched the needs of its employees. ThinkPad E16, with its large 16-inch screen proved ideal for running the specialized applications used by testers, while the durable ThinkPhone was a great fit for technicians working in lab environments. The high-quality built-in cameras on the ThinkPhone also delivered an unexpected productivity boost, enabling them to capture critical test documentation directly, eliminating the need for separate digital cameras.
Joly said, “With Lenovo ThinkPhone, it’s much easier for our technicians to capture high-resolution images during testing. In fact, we estimate that the devices help us improve productivity by around 10%.”
The flexibility of Lenovo TruScale freed Emitech Group from having to make large up-front capital expenditures and also positioned the company to easily scale device deployment as it expands into new markets. To date, the devices have proven to be highly reliable – so much so that the company has not yet needed to call on Lenovo Premier Support. Still, Emitech takes confidence in knowing that a 24/7 contact center access and on-site support are readily available whenever needed.
Joly says, “Our Lenovo ThinkPad E16 laptops and Lenovo ThinkPhone devices give us the perfect combination of performance and reliability. By leveraging TruScale DaaS, we have achieved a 10% reduction in total cost of ownership compared to traditional procurement, which frees up capital to invest in other areas of the business.”
Emmanuel Geraud, EMEA Mid-Market Sales Director at Lenovo says: “At Lenovo, we’re committed to enabling ambitious organizations like Emitech Group to scale with confidence. With Lenovo TruScale Device-as-a-Service, we helped them reduce costs, accelerate deployment, and stay ahead with the latest technology—ready when and where they need it. TruScale gives them the flexibility, performance, and lifecycle support to drive innovation and expand into new markets. By leveraging Lenovo’s Cyber Resiliency Managed Services, Emitech gains an added layer of security, ensuring robust protection without compromising on cost-efficiency.”
Ready for what’s next
Emitech Group is now well-positioned for the next stage of its growth, Joly says. As the company expands, adopting environmentally sustainable practices becomes increasingly important. Lenovo supports this objective by providing solutions that align with Emitech’s sustainability goals. With teams feeling empowered to work more efficiently and intelligently, and the cost-effective scalable approach of Lenovo TruScale DaaS, the company is equipped to confidently invest in continued expansion into new markets.
Joly recalls: “From the start, Lenovo took the time to understand our strategic direction and demonstrate how TruScale DaaS aligns with our growth strategy. Lenovo TruScale DaaS has transformed our approach to procurement. It’s not just about the technology: it’s about how it will empower our teams to work smarter and support our business aims. Opening new international locations will enable us to stay close to our customers and give us the capacity to offer a wider range of testing services.”
