Lenovo Outlines Vision for IoT Business Transformation, Announces Collaboration Agreement with AWS & Creates Solution Partner Program

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Dec. 15, 2020 – Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) today announced a Collaboration Agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to drive the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT)-based solutions, accelerating business transformation globally by making IoT adoption practical and scalable. This comes at a pivotal point with businesses and workplaces changing the way they operate during the global pandemic. Lenovo also announced a new solution partner program to bring more than 100 partners across real estate, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, education, and transportation verticals into Lenovo’s IoT ecosystem in 2021.

Since introducing the Commercial IoT (CIoT) group at the end of 2019, Lenovo has launched 11 IoT solutions in the areas of Smart Buildings and Smart Retail to help customers simplify their Business Transformation. Each solution is validated and tested by Lenovo and can be deployed and managed as a turnkey solution helping customers move quickly on critical problems such as preparing offices for bringing employees back to work. Lenovo is looking for more than 100 solution partners around the world with solutions in real estate, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, education, and transportation.

With customers around the world in North America, Europe, and Asia, delivery capabilities in over 100 countries, and a team headquartered in the US with team members in Canada, Mexico, India, China, and Singapore, Lenovo’s Commercial IoT Group has achieved global reach in 2020.

Lenovo has launched its ThinkIoT Solution Management platform developed with AWS. The ThinkIoT Solution Management platform enables Lenovo to monitor the health of IoT solutions for customers so that Lenovo can repair them if they break, giving customers a practical approach to leveraging IoT technology. In addition to launching the ThinkIoT Solution Management platform, the collaboration with AWS includes access to the AWS Partner Network (APN) Partners for the aforementioned industries and driving customer demand for IoT solutions through joint sales and marketing initiatives.

“Verticals such as manufacturing, healthcare, and transportation are in the midst of key business transformations,” said Dirk Didascalou, Vice President of IoT, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “We are delighted to collaborate with Lenovo to accelerate customers in these verticals by providing the validated AWS IoT solutions and cloud infrastructure to make it possible.”

While Lenovo’s CIoT business has contributed to the company’s service-led transformation strategy, the group has strong ambitions for 2021. “I’m proud of what our team has accomplished in this first year, while facing unprecedented challenges, but we are just getting started,” said John Gordon, President, Commercial IoT Group, Lenovo. “IoT holds the potential to transform our customers’ businesses, and we are committed to making it as easy as possible for them with the help of our growing ecosystem.”

To support this growth, Lenovo is deploying the ThinkIoT Partner Program to help IoT solution partners grow their businesses. By joining the ThinkIoT Partner Program, IoT solution providers can increase their customer access, customer trust, and global deployment reach. Learn more about becoming a ThinkIoT partner.

“Relogix has a world class, proven real estate management IoT solution,” said Jeff Bennett, COO at Relogix. “By partnering with Lenovo, now we have the global sales and deployment reach to support customers who have global offices. A recent customer had offices in Toronto, Canada, San Francisco and Austin in the US, London and Brighton in the UK, and Bangalore, India. By working with Lenovo we dramatically simplified the deployment and management of this global IoT solution.”

Lenovo delivers these solutions with a global IoT solution delivery network that exceeds 20,000 technicians. Lenovo’s delivery network continues to expand with a combination of its own employees and with field service partners such as Unisys.

“We are excited about the partnership with Lenovo,” said Jose Luis Villalvazo, VP of Global Field Service and IoT at Unisys. “Our field service experts complement Lenovo’s validated and tested IoT solutions to ensure customers can deploy and manage their IoT capabilities around the world.”
