Hong Kong, January 25, 2021 – Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR> LNVGY) has been recognized by Corporate Knights as one of the 100 most sustainable corporations in the world. The 17th annual ranking of the world’s 100 most sustainable corporations is the result of a rigorous assessment of 8,080 companies with more than US$1 billion revenue. Lenovo was ranked #78 overall, marking an increased rank from #97 in last year’s assessment.
Corporate Knights’ rigorous assessment is based on methodology that includes 24 key performance indicators (KPIs) covering resource management, employee management, financial management, clean revenue & clean investments and supplier performance. This year’s rankings also assessed new performance indicators related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the movement for social justice, i.e. paid sick leave for employees and racial diversity in the corporation’s leadership.
Lenovo is proud to continue making progress on its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments, announcing new, science-based targets for greenhouse gas emissions reductions by 2030 that support limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Lenovo has met the challenges of 2020 by committing US $15 million in response to the pandemic, focusing on meeting remote education needs and ensuring hospitals have the technology they need to meet increased demands. Lenovo also continues to promote diverse talent into its executive ranks through the Women’s and Mosaic Leadership Development Programs.
“I’m proud of our strong ranking from Corporate Knights in recognition of Lenovo’s commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance initiatives,” said John Cerretani, Lenovo’s Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer. “However, like our peers in the Global 100 list, we must continue to strengthen our commitment to ESG as we all face the complex challenges of doing business sustainably in our interconnected world.”
